Greg specializes almost exclusively in the defense of medical malpractice litigation, representing physicians, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners, advanced practice nurses and other allied healthcare professionals. He has also represented physicians, nurses and pharmacists in professional disciplinary actions, appearing before the respective boards/licensing bodies in defense of disciplinary filings. He has served as a speaker on various medical malpractice topics to lawyers, physicians, staff in-services and other professional meetings.
After a period of practice with Brame, Bergstedt & Brame in Lake Charles, handling general casualty insurance defense work and general litigation in addition to medical malpractice defense work, Greg left to form The Bergstedt Law Firm in April of 1995 with his father John E. “Chop” Bergstedt. The Bergstedt Law Firm has focused primarily on medical malpractice defense trial work since then. Greg was the sole member of the firm since his father’s retirement at the end of 2009. In July of 2010, his practice became a part of Fraser, Wheeler, Bergstedt and Courtney, LLP. He is now of counsel with Stockwell, Sievert, Viccellio, Clements & Shaddock, LLP. Greg was born in New Orleans and raised in Lake Charles. He enjoys playing tennis and watching baseball.
