Stockwell Sievert Law Firm is pleased to announce that Derek G. Hoffman, Kevin P. Fontenot, and Elizabeth F. Shea have joined the firm as Associates, and J. Gregory Bergstedt has joined the firm as Of Counsel.
Derek was born in Evanston, Wyoming on April 18, 1987. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a certificate in Criminology and Corrections from the University of Utah in 2010. After working for several years, Derek and his family moved South to Baton Rouge where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2018 from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. While at LSU, Derek was a Class Representative and the Executive Secretary of the Student Bar Association (SBA), and was also a LexisNexis Student Representative. He earned CALI Awards (an award granted to the student with the highest grade in the respective class) in both Antitrust and Accounting for Lawyers.
Kevin grew up in rural Basile, Louisiana and graduated from Basile High School in 1999. He attended college at Northwestern State University where he studied Political Science and History. Kevin graduated Magna Cum Laude and received his B.A. from Northwestern State in May of 2003. Kevin studied law at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University as well as in Lyon, France. Kevin was awarded CALI awards for highest grade in Contracts as well as in Legal Research and Writing while studying law at LSU. Kevin received his law degree in 2006 and has practiced law in the Lake Charles area for the past twelve years.
Liz is a native of Lafayette and graduated from Louisiana State University Summa Cum Laude and received her B.A. in English Literature in 2008. In 2011 Liz would go on to earn her Juris Doctor and Diploma in Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. Liz focuses her practice on medical malpractice defense litigation, representing physicians, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals, as well as medical facilities and clinics.
Greg specializes almost exclusively in the defense of medical malpractice litigation, representing physicians, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners, advanced practice nurses and other allied healthcare professionals. He has also represented physicians, nurses and pharmacists in professional disciplinary actions, appearing before the respective boards/licensing bodies in defense of disciplinary filings. He has served as a speaker on various medical malpractice topics to lawyers, physicians, staff in-services and other professional meetings.
